DESCRIPTION:The 4th Annual Kids Take Over the Museum provides kids of all ages with hands-on activities rooted in rich Appalachian history \nThere is no shortage of activities for your young crafter or artist. From 10:00 am to 4:00 pm\, they get their hands and minds busy on basket weaving\, blacksmithing\, and pottery making.  Over 25 demonstrations\, on-site vendors and special events are lined up for this huge day at the Great Smoky Mountains Heritage Center. \nVisitors play loads of games that were popular choices for kids on the mountain homestead. Plus\, representatives from the Museum of the Cherokee will be on hand to share their cultural heritage. \n\n  \nThe Junior Appalachian Musicians show off their musical skills as they play traditional mountain music. The musical program culminates with a performance in the 350-seat amphitheater. \n\n  \nWith living history interpreters and demonstrators throughout the Heritage Center’s 13.5 acre museum site\, kids are the focus all day long.   Don’t  miss it! \n\n  \nSuggested Donation: $20 per vehicle.

These events will happen concurrently\, so volunteers should select a cleanup location when registering. Volunteers should register for this event  to select a cleanup location and receive reminders and updates. \nAll litter supplies will be provided. Volunteers should wear closed-toed shoes\, long pants\, and comfortable clothes that can get dirty. All litter supplies will be provided. Most volunteers will clean areas surrounding the creek to prevent litter from entering the creek through stormwater runoff. However\, there is the option to get in the creek. \nThis event is in celebration of the Greatest American Cleanup\, a Keep America Beautiful initiative to help create a cleaner\, greener community. DESCRIPTION:The Cannonball Fun Run consists of teams of motorcycle riders using their navigation skills to hit as many of our checkpoints as possible. You can hammer down on the entire map or make a chill day of riding with your crew. Don’t miss out on the best day of exploring and riding your motorcycle!\nOverview\nWin Cash & Prizes!\nYou have 3 Zones to choose from. 1st\, 2nd\, and 3rd place winners in each zone. There will be additional awards for the largest group and for the costume contest!\nThis is the perfect event for you if you would like to participate in a charity\, ride at your own pace\, with the group of people you choose to ride with\, while exploring new areas.\nThe Cannonball Run consists of teams of motorcycle riders (minimum of 2 bikes) using their navigation skills to hit as many of our checkpoints as possible within a 7-hour timeframe. Checkpoints are located all over East Tennessee within a 100-mile radius of SMH-D. Registration for riders to participate is $25 for a single rider and $35 for 2 up. Your registration also gets you into the concert for FREE that evening. The event will occur rain or shine.\n8am – Registration opens up at SMH-D – THIS IS WHEN YOU GET YOUR MAP to start planning.\n8am – 11am – Planning time with your team. Once your route is selected\, gear up and head over to the start gate.
