Are you interested in learning what the field of hospitality and tourism is about? Join us for a paid summer internship program to explore these careers and earn to learn!\nWhen: January 15 – February 28\, 2025\nWhere: Blount County Public Library and participating hospitality and tourism companies\nComplete the application online linked here: https://forms.gle/r4RemsT7BYEAGoa69\nYou will be contacted by phone to schedule an interview.\nList of participants will be announced by December 20.\nClasses begin January 15 at the Blount County Public Library (See\nschedule below).\nFor more information\, contact:\nJackie Taylor\n(865) 680-7668\njackie@jataylor.net\nSchedule\n* December 20\, 2024 – January 14\, 2025: Online preparation (4-6 hours).\n* January 15 – 31: 2 1/2 weeks of Soft Skills Training (60 hours) at the Blount County Public Library’s Learning Lab.\nClasses are held from 12:00-4:30 PM\, Monday through Friday. During this time participants will receive training in skills needed to obtain and maintain a job in the hospitality and tourism industry. Participants will also tour local companies and hospitality programs at colleges.\n* February 3-21: 100 hours of hands-on experience interning with a Blount County company.\nParticipants will gain hands-on job experience\, learning industry processes. (Each participant submits his/her top internship location choices and assignments are made with participants in order to find the best fit possible.).\n* February 26-28: 3 half-days (12 hours total) of Follow-up\, Career Readiness\, and Graduation\nParticipants then return to class for career follow up and preparation\, and graduation.\n* Graduation: February 28\, 2025\nParticipants must complete all components.\nWhat You Do:\n* Actively participate in 12 (4- 1/2hour) days of workforce readiness training\n* Work 100 paid hours with a local company\n* Earn 3 paid half-days of follow up and graduation\nWhat You Gain:\n* Technology and transferable skills that will help you succeed in any career\n* Hands-on experience with a local hospitality or tourism company\n* A certificate of program completion\n* Competitive resumes\, reference lists\, and job interview skills\n* Join a short-list of first considered for hire at participating internship companies. \nEvent Location: Blount County Public Library
