All Things Tremont Open House

May 31 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Join Great Smoky Mountains Institute at Tremont on Friday, May 31, for the All Things Tremont Open House, where you can immerse yourself in the wonders of Tremont and its Walker Valley surroundings. Whether you’re already a Tremont enthusiast or just curious, this event is for you! Drop by at any point 1-4pm to take part in the festivities.

Meet the Tremont staff and learn about the many ways we connect people with nature—and see how you can get involved! You’ll get an inside look at the work we’re doing with visitors to the Smokies and the work taking place in our surrounding communities. You’ll learn about our community science programs, volunteer opportunities, youth and adult programs, second campus, and much more.

As you wander through our event, be sure to check out our special highlights:

  • Meet and greet with live animal ambassadors from Ijams Nature Center from 1-3pm.
  • Stream explorations with our team of talented teacher naturalists – bring your water shoes!
  • Live music from Jeff Barbra and Sarah Pirkle, an Americana group from Maryville, Tennessee from 1-3pm.
  • Hands-on wilderness skills lessons and activities with Tremont’s own backcountry experts Elizabeth Davis and Jeremy Lloyd.
  • Face painting, coloring station, and yard games.
  • Free food, drinks and snacks courtesy of Tremont’s kitchen staff, including vegetarian options.
  • 15% off purchases in the Tremont Visitor’s Center throughout the day (open 10am-4pm.)

For youth planning to attend Tremont’s summer camps, this open house is also an opportunity to get to know our special corner of the Smokies so you can feel more at home when you arrive for camp. You and your family will have the opportunity to meet our talented summer staff and tour Tremont’s dorms and cafeteria.
