Artist Reception: Pinkie Mistry

The Clayton Center for the Arts proudly presents a stunning new exhibition by celebrated East Tennessee artist Pinkie Mistry, whose vibrant oil paintings and monumental public murals have captivated audiences throughout the Smokies region and beyond.
Mistry, who has transformed the visual landscape of our community with three beloved murals right here in Maryville and thirteen throughout the greater Smokies region, brings her mastery of oil and canvas to this remarkable gallery presentation. Known for her acclaimed โ€œWings of Wanderโ€ mural series and as the illustrator of five enchanting childrenโ€™s books, Mistry continues to build bridges between cultures, communities, and the natural world through her art.
This extraordinary exhibition showcases four distinct yet harmonious bodies of work that reflect the artistโ€™s diverse inspirations and masterful technique. Visitors will be mesmerized by her evocative series capturing the fluid grace and cultural richness of Indian and Cuban dancers, where each brushstroke pulses with rhythm and movement. Her collection of twenty luminous butterfly paintings celebrates transformation and migrationโ€”themes that resonate deeply with both the artistโ€™s personal journey and our regionโ€™s natural heritage. Mistryโ€™s mountain-inspired series pays homage to the majestic Smokies that have long served as both her home and creative muse, while her deeply textured floral works reveal natureโ€™s intricate beauty through layers of rich, tactile oil paint.
Drawing from her East Tennessee roots, rich cultural heritage, and extensive world travels, Mistry creates art that speaks to universal experiences of movement, beauty, and belonging. Her bold colors and dynamic themes invite viewers to see their own stories reflected in each carefully crafted canvas.
Join us in celebrating an artist who has made Maryville and the entire Smokies region more beautiful, one brush stroke at a time.
