Mother’s Day Out: Where To Celebrate Mom This Mother’s Day

mother's day

Hey, don’t worry. Let’s Be Blount has your back. That’s why we’ve made it our mission to send a friendly reminder out into the universe that Mother’s Day is only TWO days away!

Let’s say–hypothetically, of course–that you may have dropped the ball on this one. Hey, we understand (probably better than your mother will!). That’s why we’re here to give you some of the best mom-approved activities that Blount County has to offer.

Creative Spark Studios

If your mom happens to live her life perusing the aisles of Hobby Lobby and saves every DIY project that comes across her Pinterest feed, consider booking a class for the two of you at Creative Spark Studio.

Creative Spark Studio offers a friendly, warm environment for artists and non-artists alike with classes that appeal to a broad spectrum of DIYers. Whether you want to try your hand at pottery, jewelry-making, glass fusing, or even blacksmithing, Creative Spark Studio has something for everyone.

If you’d prefer to keep the memories between the two of you and skip the class structure, no worries! The studio offers take-home kits so that you can create art from the comfort of your own dining room table.

If their Sunday classes are already booked, they offer plenty of classes throughout the week. There’s never a bad time to celebrate Mom!

Southland Books & Café

Does your mom always have her nose in a book? Is she obsessed with learning how to play every board game under the sun? Is she the absolute coolest person in your life? Consider taking her to Southlands Books & Café!

Not only is it the largest used bookstore in Maryville (with over 80,000 books inside!), but it also doubles as a bakery and café with some of the best sweet treats and coffee that will have Mom asking for the recipe.

Create lasting memories while scouring the shelves together in search of your next read, bond over your mutual love for board games, or sample the menu together. No matter how you decide to spend your time inside Southland Books & Café, it’s sure to have Mom asking for a sequel next Mother’s Day.

Head’s up, Southland’s is closed on Sundays, but if you take Mom on Saturday then you’ll have all of Sunday to read together or learn a new game!

Brunch at Good Vibes On The River

There are very few things more sacred to a mother than finding her favorite brunch spot. If you’re able to top your mother’s current #1 ranking, you may just find yourself scoring a bit more of an inheritance over your siblings. That’s why we’re gonna ask for a small percentage of your earnings for introducing you to Good Vibes on The River, a family-owned café in Townsend.

Not only do they offer river-view seating both inside and out, but they’re also offering a special Mother’s Day deal! If you join them for a scrumptious breakfast or divine brunch/lunch, they’ll offer a custom-made mimosa created just for Mom.

AND, because we’ve spent enough time together now for us to determine that we are, in fact, fond of you, we’re going to share now what we feel is the best part.

Good Vibes On The River is offering a 15% discount on all meals for mothers this Sunday!

Don’t say we never did anything for ya.

Shopping at J. Danforth Mercantile

If you’ve grown accustomed to holding your mother’s copious assortment of shopping bags while out and about town, we have the hottest spot to tell you about.

For the shopaholic mothers in our lives, or even just ones that recognize the value of treating oneself to a little treat here and there, look no further than J. Danforth Mercantile.

The new shopping goldmine in Downtown Maryville offers everything (truly!). Whether you’re looking for dinnerware that rivals Anthropologie, hand-stitched custom leather pieces crafted locally here in Maryville, silky smooth and trendy apparel, fresh florals, or some of the best additions to your pantry that you didn’t know you were missing, J. Danforth has everything that a mom dreams of.

J. Danforth Mercantile has also partnered with another favorite of ours, Foothills Milling Company, to bring you fresh soups, salads, sandwiches, small meals, desserts, and pastries.

J. Danforth Mercantile is also closed on Sundays, but what’s better than a shopping date on Saturday and brunch on Sunday? It’s a whole weekend’s worth of celebrating Mom!

However you decide to celebrate Mom this lovely Mother’s Day weekend, just know that we at LBB have your back. We hope that this list has helped generate some ideas!
