“Write on your heart that every day will be the best day of the year,” wrote Ralph Waldo Emerson. And here in Blount County, that task feels easy. Surrounded by natural beauty, a close community, and vibrant culture, good days abound!
However, many of our Blount County community are proactive in their approach to good days for 2026. They’re making New Year’s resolutions to set intentions at the start of the year. Here are a few of our favorites.
“I don’t do New Year’s resolutions. However, what I do is every year I try and improve at least one percent in every pyramid of my life. So, don’t wait. Even though it’s not New Year’s, start now.”
“I’m going to be nicer in 2026.”
I resolve that the Leadership Blount Rising Leaders program will be a smash hit and that people that are part of that program will gain so much new information. I hope it will advance their career, and it will turn into a wonderful experience.
My resolution is to be more involved with my community. I’ve had a really busy few years, and I want to get more engaged and help out where I can.
My New Year’s resolution would be to actually give my dog a bath every month for the year of 2026.
My New Year’s resolution is to get married!
I’m going to be intentional in 2026 to be more aware, to notice the things around me, whether it’s a person or a sunrise or a bug on a leaf. I just want to be more aware of the things going on around me.
I want to always endeavor to act with purpose. I’m very social, and as a consequence of that, I wind up involved in things. My New Year’s resolution for next year is be selective, and be purposeful and take all that energy that I’m investing, so I’m always using my time with purpose.
My New Year’s resolution is to be slower to speak, to listen more, and to listen to understand, not just to respond.
My New Year’s resolution is to spend more time outside and to start a gratitude jar where I write down different things I’m grateful for throughout the year, put them in a jar so that I can pull them out later.
My New Year’s resolution is to continue to look for great experiences, great challenges, and things that drive and motivate me.
