Our neighbors across Southern Appalachia continue to suffer from the ravages of Hurricane Helene. Here are some ways you can help!
Local sites to drop off needed supplies:
- Brewsters’s Bark and Bed, 2206 W. Lamar Alexander Pkwy., Maryville, open Mon-Fri. 7 a.m.-7 p.m., Sat. 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
- Second Harvest of East Tennessee, 136 Harvest Lane, Maryville, open 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m.
- The Bird and the Book, 1509 E. Broadway Ave., Maryville, Fri. and Sat. 5-9 p.m. Next week, during the “Young Frankenstein” performances, and $1 from every ticket will be donated as well.
Needed items are those used for everyday living, hygiene, etc. Please note that these should be NEW and packaged.

- Bottled water
- Disposable plates and utensils
- Baby wipes, paper towels, etc.
- Batteries
- First Aid supplies
- Diapers and formula
- Non-perishable food
- Flashlights
- Socks and underwear
- Blankets
- Cleaning supplies
In addition, national and regional aid agencies are orchestrating assistance, so if you can donate money, that is greatly needed, as well. Here are a few organizations that have been verified and are reliable:
