Join Keep Blount Beautiful and the Blount County Highway Department for a tour of the Blount County Recycling Center including household recycling, household hazardous waste, and glass recycling operations. Participants will be able to tour Blount County’s recycling facilities to better understand local waste disposal resources, the importance of recycling, how to recycle, and what happens to the materials collected. This event is open to the public and all ages are welcome.
This event is an educational component of the Aluminum Can Recovery Program, an initiative that recovers valuable aluminum by collecting used cans in Blount County communities using collection trailers placed at local schools. The program aims to increase student, teacher, and community engagement in recycling, provide a convenient recycling option for the community, divert valuable materials from the Blount County Landfill, and contribute to a circular economy by supporting local manufacturing’s use of used aluminum cans in their operations. The Aluminum Can Recovery Program is funded by Arconic Foundation.
Participants are encouraged to register for this event to receive event updates and reminders. The event webpage can be found here.
