Computer Basics I: Will I break it? Getting Started with Computers – November 4th, 12 – 2 PM
In this hands-on class, you will learn how to:
– Turn on your computer
– ID basic parts of the computer, its buttons and ports
– Use the mouse or mousepad
– In plain English – what the Internet is and how to access it
– Maximize and minimize the window
– Talk about computers using common terms
– Practice on your own
Computer Basics II: Using Computer Software – November 11, 12 – 2 PM
Gaining basic computer skills? No problem! Join us to explore answers to the following questions and more:
– What’s the difference between hardware and software?
– What is an operating system (OS)?
– What are applications (known as “apps”)?
– How do I use the task bar to multitask?
– How do I install new apps?
Computer Basics III: Using the Internet – November 18th, 12 – 2 PM
Never really understood “the Internet?” Get answers to questions like:
– What is “the Cloud”?
– What are web browsers and how do you make one your “default” browser?
– How to search the Web to find what you’re looking for?
– What is Office 365 and Google Drive?
– What are different ways to bring your files with you?
Computer Basics IV: Tips and Tricks for Getting Better at Using Your Computer – November 25th, 3 – 5 PM
Discover helpful tips and tricks for getting more out of your laptop or desktop computer. For example, how to:
Use your computer’s built-in help
Learn a new program, whatever it may be
Use accessibility features
– And more. Bring your questions and we’ll troubleshoot common issues.

Participants should have a basic understanding of how to use a computer and it’s touchpad or a mouse. Once you register, you will receive an automated confirmation email. You will also hear from the instructor the day of class with instructions about how to join the Zoom class if Zoom is your preference. If you need a laptop to use, please contact the instructor IN ADVANCE of the class you wish to take.
